West elevation of the Behlin’s Home Columbus Nebraska. The home was built in 1958 for Walter and Ruby Behlin. The architectural firm was Leo A Daly of Omaha, NE. The house was designed using the corrugated steel panels manufacture by the Behlin factory. The Nebraska Historical Society is now the owner of the site. After visiting the site my mother recounted a story of how she attended a birthday party at the house when it was new. She remembers there being a retractable roof over the indoor pool in the center of the house. Today the pool is filled with concrete and the roof over the pool court is fixed in place and does not appear to be retractable.
