I am a member of 2020 Omaha and it was discussed that we should start a Blog. Of course none of us are very computer savy and only one of us has ever blogged before. So in the name of looking at some of the great Midcentury architecture in our city I begin this blog. Hopefully it is entertaining as well as informational. Lets start everyone out with a picture of our Landmarked pedestrian bridge over Dodge Street. Designed by a local engineer, it was the only pedestrian bridge with enough space on each end to create a structural and functional work of art.

Welcome to Wordpress & Blogsome. I look forward to seeing more mid-century modern goodness.
Do you take suggestions on Omaha structures or topics to include?

I certainly can take suggestions. I am just learning to appreciate the recent past so I can bat any question around with the group to get a good answer or create a post to address the suggestion/question.

There are many mid-century homes and buildings in Omaha. In my neighborhood alone I know of 2 homes that were designed by people who studied under Frank Loyld Wright. I love the clean lines, we are downsizing and the home we are moving to I plan on designing as mid-century with a little of my eclectic style.

Hello,
Ran across your website and just thought I would drop a little note. My grandfather is William H. Durand. He designed the foot bridge over Dodge street. He is 94 and still living in Omaha. He is a very intresting person and if you want to find out more about him you can search google. Search for William H Durand Omaha and I think you will be very fascianted by what you find.
Thank you!
